Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 June 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and ZPath for using our website and Mwende, our WhatsApp guide to Zcash. Please read them — especially the parts about education-not-advice and the risks of cryptocurrency.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using the ZPath website or chatting with Mwende on WhatsApp, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use ZPath.

2. What ZPath is (and isn't)

ZPath is a free, educational guide that helps you understand and start using Zcash through Mwende, a WhatsApp bot. It is built for Africa, starting in Kenya, and open to everyone in the world.

ZPath is an independent project. It is not the Zcash protocol, not a bank, not a wallet, not an exchange, and not a money-transfer business. ZPath is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Electric Coin Company or the Zcash Foundation.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use ZPath. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that your use of ZPath and of cryptocurrency is lawful where you are.

4. Education, not financial advice

Everything ZPath and Mwende provide is for general education and information only. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax, or accounting advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold Zcash or any other asset. You are solely responsible for your own decisions. Consider seeking independent professional advice before making financial decisions.

5. Non-custodial — your keys, your coins

ZPath never holds, controls, or has access to your funds, wallet, recovery phrase, or private keys. You are fully responsible for safeguarding them. If you lose your recovery phrase or send funds to the wrong address, ZPath cannot recover them for you. Transactions on the Zcash network are generally irreversible.

Security reminder: ZPath and Mwende will never ask for your seed phrase, recovery words, private keys, or PIN. Never share them with anyone.

6. Cryptocurrency risk

Cryptocurrencies, including Zcash (ZEC), are volatile and carry risk. Their value can rise or fall sharply, and you could lose money. Regulatory treatment of crypto varies by country and can change. You use ZPath, acquire ZEC, and transact entirely at your own risk and responsibility.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

8. Third-party services

ZPath works with and links to services we do not control, including WhatsApp (Meta), M-Pesa, cryptocurrency exchanges, and community resources such as the Zcash Forum and ZecHub. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. ZPath is not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their availability.

9. Intellectual property

The ZPath name, logo, Mwende, and the design and written content of this site are the property of ZPath and protected by applicable law. Our underlying code is open source and is licensed under the terms stated in our public repository. "Zcash" and related marks belong to their respective owners.

10. Disclaimers

ZPath is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information is complete or current.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZPath and the people who build it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of funds, profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of ZPath, your use of cryptocurrency, or your dealings with any third-party service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold ZPath harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of ZPath or your breach of these terms or of any law.

13. Changes & termination

We may update, suspend, or discontinue ZPath, or change these terms, at any time. When we change the terms we'll update the "Last updated" date above. We may also restrict or end your access if you misuse the service. Continuing to use ZPath after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country apply, nothing in these terms removes rights you cannot waive. Disputes will, where possible, first be addressed informally by contacting us.
